The other day we took our friends Lee & Jen, Cathy & Steve and a very cool family of 5 of a friend of mine that was visiting from Charlotte on a snorkel excursion on the reef by Grace Bay and Leeward.
This is the 3rd or 4th time we'd gone with Island Vibes, and the awesome crew of Captain Delroy & Dondré. We hit a shallow reef area first, but there wasn't much action so we went out further into deeper water and more concentrated coral and reef life. Bam! Groupers, Triggers, the usual (and beautiful) suspects but this time a special guest - a 5' Nurse Shark. None of the 11 of us had ever seen a shark of any type before, and we all did see this one, awesome and muscular just cruising along the bottom.
After about an hour of snorkeling, we hit Iguana Island for some exploring and a great lunch of fresh conch salad w/ Doritos, sandwiches and of course all the Rum Punch we could drink.
To finish up, we did some tubing and diving off the board and sliding down the slide into the clear waters.
This is one of the best 1/2 day things you can do on Turks and Caicos Islands, go for it! You can go with a mixed group or as we did, have it be a private group. It's about $1200 for 8 adults, so if you split it up it's pretty affordable for all the fun you'll have.
Then back to Villa Capri on the waters of Chalk Sound. What's better than the Turks and Caicos Islands?
